How to Set Up a Proxy on iPhone and iPad

Step by step

1. 1Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
2. 2Tap the ⓘ button next to the network you are connected to.
3. 3Scroll to the bottom and tap Configure Proxy.
4. 4Choose Manual.
5. 5Enter the Server (hostname or IP) and Port of your HTTP proxy.
6. 6Turn on Authentication and enter your proxy Username and Password.
7. 7Tap Save.

The two limits

• Mobile data is not covered. The setting lives inside one Wi-Fi network. On cellular, and on any other Wi-Fi, traffic goes direct. A global proxy for all connections is only available on supervised devices managed through MDM.
• No native SOCKS5. iOS configures HTTP proxies only. For SOCKS5, use a proxy client app from the App Store that creates a local VPN profile and forwards traffic to your SOCKS5 server.

Which apps follow it

Safari and apps that use Apple's standard networking follow the Wi-Fi proxy. Apps with their own network stacks, certificate pinning or custom protocols may ignore it or fail. For social apps in particular, a native proxy is often less reliable than a phone that actually uses the right network — which is why mobile proxies are usually run from anti-detect tools or cloud devices rather than from a personal phone's settings.

Check and remove it

Open our IP checker in Safari; it should show the proxy's IP and country. To remove the proxy, go back to Configure Proxy for that network and choose Off. If pages stop loading while the proxy is on, the most common causes are a wrong port or a typo in the password — re-enter both.
